The Friday "Over the Hill" Gang

Our “Over the Hill Gang” meets at noon on Fridays (11:30 for lunch) at the Guild Woodworking Education Center in Maylene to eat lunch and make a little sawdust. Our leader is Toy Chairman, Buddy Finch, so we devote some of our Fridays to making toys for the 2008 Toys Program. Please bring your lunch and join us!

Upcoming  2010 Events - Details to follow:

Member Shop Visit

We have started back up with the popular visits to member shops.  Come check out how your fellow members have their shop set up and organized.   The April shop visit is on 4/24 at Brian Stauss's shop in Indian Springs Village.  Directions are in the April newsletter.

Bandsaw Box Class

Instructor:  Preston Lawley

Learn how to quickly build a perfect and attractive box using the bandsaw.

Boat Building Class

Instructor:  Charlie Ard

If you've known Charlie for any length of time, you've seen some of the dozen boats he has built over the years.  Now Charlie will be teaching us how to do it, with the class project boat to be sold as a fundraiser for the Guild.

Guitar Class

Instructor:  Paul Owen

Paul just wrapped up a dulcimer class (check out the Items for Sale page for some pictures) and is now going to show us how to build a guitar.

Hand Planes Class

We've had a number of requests for classes using hand tools.  This is the first of those classes.

Musical Instruments

There are plans for another musical instrument class.  No additional info available at this time.

European Workbench

Members have been asking for a repeat of the "Fred Baker" workbench class, last held in 2005.  Fred taught several classes that built a Tage Frid design European style workbench (FWW #4).  We plan to start this class up later in 2010.

Kitchen Cabinets

One of our community involvement organizations is Habitat for Humanity.  Each year, we build and install the cabinets for one of their houses.  This year, we plan to teach a class on building kitchen cabinets, with the class project being the donated cabinets.
